Broken

Broken are our dreams,
As we sit across from each other.

Another day has come,
Another day has gone.

He forces a grin;
I force a laugh.

Our eyes betray us both.
Pain surges beneath our masks.

Our feelings are the same.
Our feelings are not mutual.

For while I care for him,
He cares for another.
